Do you love being surrounded by nature, beautiful landscapes, live music, being by the ocean, incredible wildlife, going on adventures and meeting local people? Then the Rock My South Africa, eSwatini & Mozambique Adventure is the trip for you!

From hipster Johannesburg, to the wilds of Kruger. From the rolling hills of eSwatini (Swaziland) to the stunning beaches of Mozambique – this  trip has it all!

Join us on an adventurous and colourful journey through South Africa, eSwatini (formerly Swaziland) and Mozambique.

Starting off in Johannesburg, South Africa, we’ll explore the city on a full day tour.

We’ll visit Nelson Mandela’s former home, Soweto, and learn all about the uprisings and the resistance against the Apartheid regime whilst getting a unique insight into Soweto life.

There’ll also be some time to explore our hip and trendy neighbourhood before we head into the Kingdom of eSwatini, formally known as Swaziland.

Here, we’ll spend a few days immersed in nature, staying in a stunning national reserve and you’ll have the opportunity to learn all about the unique and interesting Swazi culture and explore your adventurous side! There are also plenty of activities on offer to keep you occupied, such as hiking, horse riding, zip lining and white water rafting, to name just a few!

From eSwatini, we’ll travel to Mozambique, spending a night in the capital Maputo, before we move up the coast to Tofo, a beautiful and chilled out beach town with beautiful beaches and lots of exciting activities on offer.

After we’ve had a few days at the beach, we’ll head back to South Africa, to the world-famous Kruger National Park where we’ll spend 2 full days on safari, including sunset and sunrise game drives, looking for the ‘Big 5’.

Kruger is one of the world’s best safari destinations and you have a good chance of seeing lions, leopards and other predators, as well as elephants, giraffes and the rest of the cast of the Lion King!

Leaving Kruger, we’ll visit God’s window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and Blyde River Canyon where we’ll spend the night before we head back to Johannesburg for our final night together.

Come with us on the adventure of a lifetime!

“I just wanted to say thank you for the amazing trip. It was a dream come true for me! I felt it was very well organised, taking in all the highlights and I loved the pace. There was always something amazing to look forward to every day. A never-ending stream of breathtaking experiences. I thought the balance between nature and culture, action and rest days was really well judged. I enjoyed watching the landscape change from the dry veldt to the tropical palm-fringed beaches. For me, the highlights were the game drives in Kruger. We saw the big five and also a pack of 18 wild dogs 5 meters from the road. I loved everything about Swaziland, especially my long walks in Mlilwane, my encounters with huge crocs and the cultural dancing as well as the visit to the medicine man’s hut. Mozambique was great too with its huge expanse of deserted beaches and I loved swimming with whale sharks. It really took my breath away having them 3 meters from me. All my trepidations about travel in Africa are gone. I am totally hooked on this continent: the landscape, the wildlife, the people, the history. I can’t wait to keep exploring Africa with “Rock My Adventure”. It was a trip of a lifetime for me and truly enriched me.”

Day 2: Johannesburg

In the morning, we’ll head over to Nelson Mandela’s former home, the infamous and often misunderstood Soweto township.

We’ll take our tour on our bicycles to see the many different sections of the area, learning about the Soweto uprisings and the resistance against the Apartheid regime. We’ll stop at a number of different food stalls along the way to grab some local snacks, as well as a local pub known as a ‘shebeen’ where you can taste the local beer and hear stories of African customs and traditions finishing with a traditional South African lunch.

You will get a great insight into Soweto and learn how the communities have evolved over the years to become what you see today.

We’ll be staying in one of the hippest neighbourhoods in the city, so we’ll spend the afternoon strolling the streets, checking out the street art and cool shops in our local area.

In the evening, we’ll have a meal out at another great local restaurant and those who want to can experience the Joburg nightlife, or you chill and get an early night ready for our trip tomorrow!

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Accommodation: Twin Occupancy (Guesthouse)
  • Activities: Soweto Township Tour

Day 3 - 5: eSwatini (Swaziland)

Leaving Johannesburg, we’ll road trip over to eSwatini where we will be staying in an area known as Ezulwini Valley (which means the ‘Valley of Heaven’).

We’ll visit the Mantenga Cultural Village which will give us an insight into Swazi customs and you will get to enjoy traditional Swazi singing and dancing. You can even join in if you want to! From here, we’ll visit the Mantenga Waterfall before moving on to Lobamba township and village where we will have the chance to look around and meet the local people who are some of the friendliest I’ve met in all of Africa.

Many of the local men still wear traditional dress and most of the time they’re very happy to have their photo taken with you and will be curious to find out about where you come from too, so it’s always a wonderful day.

We’ll have dinner at the fabulous House on Fire, Swaziland’s premier entertainment venue which is also incredibly quirky and very photogenic!

There will be some free time to enjoy some of the many activities on offer, such as horse riding or mountain biking through the beautiful reserve, going on a village walk, white water rafting, tubing, abseiling, hiking Sibebe Rock, quad biking, safari in Hlane Royal National Park, Mlawula Nature Reserve, guided or self-guided hikes or a ziplining canopy tour through the stunning mountain wilderness of the Malolotja Nature Reserve.

If you love adventure, you’ll LOVE it here!

eSwatini is an incredible place, so whatever you choose to do will be a lot of fun (and very pretty) but there are few things more magical than riding a horse or a bike at sunset through rolling green hills in the African bush, surrounded by animals like zebra and wildebeest.

There will be some free time to relax, shop at the FEIMA Arts & Crafts Market (Maputo has some great shopping) or go for a walk around the neighbourhood before we go out for a meal at a great local restaurant.

We’re staying at the fabulous Mozambeat Motel, which I know you’ll love!  let their hair down and do some shakin’ what your mama gave you! The Mozambeat Motel often holds pool parties and theme nights with DJ’s and bands, so we may be lucky to catch one of those!

Whilst we’re here, we’ll take a trip on a traditional dhow to an inhabited island off the coast and when we arrive, we’ll get to meet the chief of the island and some of the community members from the Bitonga tribe, visit a local school and clinic and enjoy a locally made lunch. After lunch there will be time for snorkelling and our guide will show us how to climb a palm tree – don’t try this at home folks! This is a really fun day out and a chance to experience a very different way of life.

We’ll explore the town, go to a local pub (known as a barrack) or two, visit the local market where you can do some shopping and we’ll introduce you to a great local tailor, so if anyone wants any clothes made – he’s your guy! There will also be some free time to take part in one of the activities available or to just relax on the beach, by the pool or just wander and see where the day takes you!

There are lots of cool things to do in and around Tofo, including scuba diving, deep sea fishing, quad biking, tour the old Portuguese colonial city Inhambane and surfing. However, one of the most popular activities in Tofo is swimming with whale sharks and manta rays – pure magic!

Travel insurance is essential for ALL Rock My Adventure trips.

Your health and safety when travelling is of the utmost importance, so it is vital that you have travel insurance policy that covers you for your trip to Africa. Adequate travel insurance is a condition of your contract with us and you will not be able to join a trip without it.

You must be satisfied that your insurance fully covers all your personal requirements including cancellation charges, theft, medical expenses and repatriation in the event of accident or illness.

Your insurance should also cover you for any adventurous activities that you wish to do – this includes the ‘included’ activities on the tour and any ‘optional’ activities.

Please be aware that some hazardous activities such as (but not limited to) white water rafting on grade 5 rapids, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, safari walks, bungee jumping and sky diving may not be covered by all policies, so you may have to take out a higher level of cover.

Medical care is not free in Africa and even the cost of getting to hospital can be super expensive, so you need to be covered in case of a medical emergency, including air ambulance evacuation and repatriation in the event of accident or illness. For example, if your appendix bursts whilst we are in the Serengeti, you will need to be evacuated by helicopter to Nairobi. Without insurance you would need to pay for that out of your own pocket.

If you are bringing along any electrical equipment such as cameras and laptops, you should also ensure your insurance covers those items too. Some policies only have this as an add-on.

If you are travelling to an area that is subject to foreign office warnings, this may void your travel insurance, so you may need to take out an additional policy for the days you are in the danger zones.

Please always read the small print.

Your tour leader will collect your travel insurance details on the first day of your trip, so please have the following information ready for them:

  • Name of insurance provider.
  • Your policy number.
  • The telephone number to call in the event of an emergency.
  • Your next of kin name and number.

What are you waiting for?

Places are very limited so don’t miss out!
