“This trip simply blew my mind. Never before have I encountered so much wildlife close up. Daily we saw large herds of Elephants, the baby Elephants running around, learning to use their trunks. Having initially felt somewhat apprehensive about camping, it turned out to be my favourite part of the trip. Being so completely immersed in nature, falling asleep to the sound of hippos close to the tent and watching the mist rise from the river in the early morning light, made us feel incredibly alive. We explored the landscape by car, canoe, on foot, by plane and boat and every time there was more to see, more to learn, more to enjoy.”

Day 10 – 12: Livingstone, Zambia
Our last destination on the retreat is Helen’s favourite place in Africa – Livingstone, the home of the magnificent Victoria Falls.
Livingstone is also known as the adventure capital of Southern Africa, so whilst we’re here there will be one free day for you to enjoy some of the amazing activities on offer.
These include white water rafting, swimming in the ‘Angel’s or Devil’s Pool (rainfall dependent as to which one is open when we visit), microlighting over the falls, swimming under the falls (seasonal), bungee jumping, jet boating or taking afternoon tea at The Royal Livingstone Hotel.
One of Helen’s favourite activities, is taking a cycling trip through the villages surrounding Livingstone with a local social enterprise, where you will have the chance to support the local communities and get a glimpse into life in Zambia.
Or, if you’re feeling slightly less adventurous you may just want to chill by the pool or visit the local market to buy beautiful African chitenge fabric – it’s up to you.
On our last day, we’ll visit Victoria Falls and enjoy a yoga and meditation session near to this magical natural phenomenon.
In the afternoon there will be some free time to relax by the pool or do a bit of last-minute shopping before we say goodbye over a light dinner and drinks on a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River where we may be lucky to spot more animals, such as elephants, hippos and giraffes.

Travel insurance is essential for ALL Rock My Adventure trips.
Your health and safety when travelling is of the utmost importance, so it is vital that you have travel insurance policy that covers you for your trip to Africa. Adequate travel insurance is a condition of your contract with us and you will not be able to join a trip without it.
You must be satisfied that your insurance fully covers all your personal requirements including cancellation charges, theft, medical expenses and repatriation in the event of accident or illness.
Your insurance should also cover you for any adventurous activities that you wish to do – this includes the ‘included’ activities on the tour and any ‘optional’ activities.
Please be aware that some hazardous activities such as (but not limited to) white water rafting on grade 5 rapids, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, safari walks, bungee jumping and sky diving may not be covered by all policies, so you may have to take out a higher level of cover.
Medical care is not free in Africa and even the cost of getting to hospital can be super expensive, so you need to be covered in case of a medical emergency, including air ambulance evacuation and repatriation in the event of accident or illness. For example, if your appendix bursts whilst we are in the Serengeti, you will need to be evacuated by helicopter to Nairobi. Without insurance you would need to pay for that out of your own pocket.
If you are bringing along any electrical equipment such as cameras and laptops, you should also ensure your insurance covers those items too. Some policies only have this as an add-on.
If you are travelling to an area that is subject to foreign office warnings, this may void your travel insurance, so you may need to take out an additional policy for the days you are in the danger zones.
Please always read the small print.
Your tour leader will collect your travel insurance details on the first day of your trip, so please have the following information ready for them:
- Name of insurance provider.
- Your policy number.
- The telephone number to call in the event of an emergency.
- Your next of kin name and number.
