Rock My Cape Town & Garden Route Adventure

12 Nights from £3,965*

Tour Overview & Highlights

South Africa is a country of incredible contrasts – vibrant cities, dramatic coastlines, world-class food and wine, wild landscapes, and unforgettable adventure.

Our journey begins in the iconic city of Cape Town, where mountains meet ocean and culture pulses through every neighbourhood. From guided walks and panoramic viewpoints to penguins, coastal drives, sunset cruises, and relaxed beachside evenings, we take time to truly experience one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

We then slow the pace in the Cape Winelands, staying in charming Stellenbosch and exploring historic wine estates, farm-to-table dining, vineyard picnics, and gentle days designed for indulgence and connection.

From here, the adventure continues along South Africa’s legendary Garden Route – a region of lush forests, rugged cliffs, waterfalls, estuaries, and endless ocean views. Expect canoeing through indigenous forest, waterfall swims, coastal hikes, sunset catamaran cruises, and unforgettable moments in places like Knysna, Tsitsikamma National Park, and Hermanus.

Along the way, there’s room for adrenaline – from bungee jumping and kayaking to cliffside trails – balanced perfectly with relaxed evenings, great food, live music, and time to simply soak it all in.

This is South Africa done properly: scenic, social, adventurous, and unhurried – a journey of shared experiences, wild beauty, and moments you’ll still be talking about long after the trip ends.

We’ll be staying in Stellenbosch, a lively university town that blends old-world charm with a modern, creative buzz. Wander the oak-lined streets, browse stylish boutiques, explore local art galleries, or pop into wine bars and cafés showcasing produce from the surrounding vineyards.

The Western Cape is home to more than 500 wineries, and today we’ll visit a handpicked selection of our favourites – chosen for their outstanding wines, beautiful settings, and relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Across three fabulous wine estates, you’ll have the chance to sample everything from crisp, refreshing whites and bold, full-bodied reds to elegant Cap Classique sparkling wines. Think unhurried tastings, optional cheese or chocolate pairings, and plenty of time to soak up those vineyard views.

Lunch is a true highlight of the day: a farm-to-table feast at the iconic Babylonstoren Wine Estate. Expect beautifully prepared, seasonal dishes made with produce harvested straight from the gardens, thoughtfully paired with wine in an unforgettable setting.

If you’re feeling more active, the morning is yours to choose your own adventure. Optional activities include horse riding, mountain biking, or hiking trails through vineyards and mountain scenery – or, for those not quite ready to stop, another relaxed wine tasting. Alternatively, do absolutely nothing at all and lean fully into slow Winelands living.

In the afternoon, we make our way to the beautiful Boschendal Wine Estate for a laid-back picnic lunch, set among rolling vineyards and historic Cape Dutch architecture.

There’s plenty of time to enjoy the estate at your own pace. Wander the gardens, explore the trails, relax on the lawns with a glass of wine, or simply soak up the views – no schedules, no rush.

Today, we depart Stellenbosch early and travel towards South Africa’s iconic Garden Route, a region celebrated for its dramatic coastline, beautiful beaches, and lush, forested landscapes.

We enter the Garden Route at Mossel Bay, historically known as the landing site of the first European mariners to round the southern tip of Africa. There’s time here for lunch and a chance to stretch your legs after the drive.

We’ll then take a walk along the incredibly scenic Cape St Blaize Trail, which winds along rugged cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean. Weather permitting, there’s also the option to get the adrenaline flowing with a thrilling zipline over the ocean.

From here, we continue deeper into the Garden Route, heading on to the Wilderness area to check into our accommodation for the evening and relax after the journey.

In the evening, we’ll head out for dinner at an excellent local eatery, rounding off the day with great food and a relaxed Garden Route atmosphere.

Day 8: Canoes, Cascades & Catamarans

In the morning, we’ll head to the Touw River for a beautiful combination of canoeing and hiking, one of the most scenic experiences on the Garden Route.

This popular route begins with around 40 minutes of paddling through tranquil indigenous forest, followed by a gentle 40-minute walk that leads to a picturesque waterfall.

The highlight of the journey is reaching the waterfall itself – a beautiful, secluded spot and the perfect place to slow down. We’ll relax here with a picnic, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and, if you’re feeling brave, take a refreshing dip in the cool, clear water before returning the same way.

We’ll then continue on to Knysna, where we’ll spend the next three nights in the heart of South Africa’s iconic Garden Route. This beautiful region is celebrated for its lush forests, warm-water estuary, dramatic coastline, and sweeping views of the Outeniqua Mountains.

In the early evening, we’ll head out on a sunset catamaran cruise across the Knysna Lagoon, sailing towards the iconic Knysna Heads (conditions permitting) while enjoying a glass of MCC (South African champagne) and an onboard braai (BBQ) as the sun sets – a truly memorable way to end the day.

After the hike, we’ll enjoy lunch at a beachside restaurant in Plettenberg Bay before returning to Knysna for the afternoon.

        Day 10: Tsitsikamma National Park

After breakfast, we head to Tsitsikamma National Park, where the day is spent exploring one of the Garden Route’s most spectacular areas – a dramatic meeting of ancient indigenous forest and rugged Indian Ocean coastline.

On the way, we stop at Bloukrans Bridge. For the more adventurous, there’s the option to take on the world’s highest commercial bungee jump, plunging a staggering 216 metres into the gorge below – an unforgettable, bucket-list thrill for those brave enough.

At Tsitsikamma, the big highlight is walking out to the iconic Storms River suspension bridge, with waves crashing far below. If time allows, it’s also highly recommended to tackle the waterfall walk, a beautiful trail leading to huge rock pools – perfect for swimming, relaxing, and a bit of carefree frolicking along the way.

For something a little different, there’s also the option to join the famous kayak and lilo adventure (extra cost) up the Storms River gorge, paddling beneath towering cliffs before floating peacefully through narrow rock corridors – a truly magical experience.

Whether you choose hiking, swimming, kayaking, or simply soaking up the scenery, Tsitsikamma delivers one of the most memorable days of the Garden Route.

We’ll stop in Cape Agulhas for lunch before visiting the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans officially meet.

From here, we continue on to the seaside town of Hermanus, known for its beautiful coastal scenery, dramatic cliff paths, excellent shops, restaurants, and relaxed seaside atmosphere.

In the evening, we’ll wander out for dinner at one of the town’s lovely restaurants, enjoying great food, ocean views, and a laid-back local vibe – the perfect way to wind down the day.

        Testimonials

“I knew it would be good but it exceeded my expectations.”

“This was my second Rock My Adventure tour. It was the trip of a lifetime with a great mix of culture and nature. I knew it would be good but it exceeded my expectations. The safaris were amazing, we saw so much. We saw so many animals up close, just like watching a wildlife programme in real life. I loved travelling in a group. It’s like travelling with friends. I am always apprehensive about meeting new people but everyone has a common interest and it’s not long before you’re enjoying sharing the holiday experience with them. The tour has a very personal touch and Helen really cares about everyone having their best experience. For me Helen’s knowledge, connections, care, attention and commitment to ensure everyone has a great time is exceptional.”

“Every day after was as impressive as the last.”

“After our first incredible safari day in the Masai Mara, I wondered how the rest of the trip could compare but every day after was as impressive as the last. I’ve wanted to visit Africa for as long as I can remember and all of my expectations were exceeded. We got to experience, city, safari, jungle and beach, spent some time off the beaten track with locals and some time on the beach with other tourists – the perfect balance. The trip was so well organised and Helen made sure everything ran smoothly, while spending time with us and sharing everything she knows of Kenya and Tanzania. It was lovely to experience all of these moments with a group of people that were equally as excited as me, Helen included. Coming home was very difficult, but it’s even harder trying to decide which trip I’ll go on next……””

        SINEAD | IRELAND

“Definitely the best holiday I have ever been on.”

“Without a doubt the best tour I’ve ever been on. I loved every, single, bloody minute of this trip. From the minute it started in Nairobi I KNEW I was on the right tour. On meeting Helen and that instant connection of a kindred spirit. I even loved how we turned a long day of travel into a raving karaoke bus and had the best bloody day ever…just by having fun. I loved all the included activities and the optional ones too. I felt the itinerary we had was a good mix of everything, ensuring to see the best of the locations. Met my expectations, smashed passed them and blew right into the stratosphere. I wanted a slightly elevated tour, but without missing that connection to the people and the places, and this tour gave me all of that and more. YOU ROCKED MY ADVENTURE!!!”
