Through an Artist’s Eyes: Julia’s Journey Through Kenya & Tanzania
One of the things I love most about leading Rock My Adventure tours through Kenya and Tanzania is that no two people experience the journey in quite the same way.
Some people spend the trip behind a camera. Others fill notebooks with memories. But when Julia joined us for two back-to-back adventures through Kenya, Tanzania and Mafia Island, she brought something a little different – a sketchbook.
Over the following weeks, she quietly captured our adventure as only an artist can. From elephants roaming the Serengeti and Maasai communities beneath Mount Kilimanjaro to colourful village scenes, unforgettable safaris and the crystal-clear waters of Mafia Island, her beautiful illustrations tell the story of East Africa in a way photographs simply can’t.
Looking through her drawings afterwards reminded me that travel isn’t just about ticking places off a list – it’s about noticing the little moments that stay with you long after you’ve come home.
I’m so grateful she’s allowed me to share her artwork with you. I hope you enjoy seeing our East African adventures through her eyes as much as I have.
