Tour Overview & Highlights

Let’s celebrate Rock My Adventure’s 10th birthday with an epic trip to ICELAND!!!!!

Iceland is a land of otherworldly landscapes – thundering waterfalls, vast glaciers, black sand beaches, steaming geothermal pools and dramatic coastlines shaped by fire and ice.

Our journey begins in the creative capital of Reykjavík, where we’ll dive straight into Icelandic culture with a food tour before unwinding in the famous Sky Lagoon and its 7-step ritual.

We then explore the iconic Golden Circle, taking in Þingvellir National Park, the roaring Gullfoss Waterfall and the erupting Geysir geothermal area, before soaking in the natural warmth of the Secret Lagoon.

Next, we head into Iceland’s wild glacial world with a guided glacier hike and an unforgettable ice cave tour, followed by the shimmering beauty of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach.

We continue along the dramatic south coast to Stokksnes Beach, the towering basalt cliffs of Reynisdrangar, the viewpoint at Dyrhólaey, and the breathtaking Fjadrárgljúfur Canyon.

Day 2: Reykjavík Exploration and Sky Lagoon

The morning is free to explore Reykjavík, Iceland’s charming and compact capital, at your own pace.

You might choose to stroll through the colourful streets, pop into quirky boutiques, grab a coffee in one of the city’s many cosy cafés or go on a whale watching tour.

For something a little different, you could also visit FlyOver Iceland, an immersive experience that gives you a breathtaking aerial journey over Iceland’s most dramatic landscapes.

A must-see while you’re in the city is Hallgrímskirkja, the iconic church that dominates the skyline. If you’re up for it, take the lift to the top for sweeping views across Reykjavík, the surrounding mountains, and the ocean beyond.

For something a little more… unusual, there’s also the Icelandic Phallological Museum – better known as the famous Penis Museum. It’s surprisingly informative, slightly surreal, and definitely one of the city’s most talked-about attractions!

In the afternoon, we’ll head to the incredible Sky Lagoon, a stunning oceanfront geothermal spa just outside the city. Here, you’ll enjoy their signature 7-step ritual – a deeply relaxing journey that includes a hot soak, cold plunge, sauna, steam room, scrub, and more, all designed to leave you feeling completely rejuvenated.

In the evening, we’ll book a table at one of Reykjavík’s fantastic restaurants. The city has an excellent food scene, from cosy local bistros to creative Nordic cuisine using fresh Icelandic ingredients.

Day 3: The Golden Circle & the Secret Lagoon

Today we’ll explore Iceland’s famous Golden Circle, showcasing the raw forces that have shaped this island.

We’ll visit Þingvellir National Park, a dramatic rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are slowly pulling apart – a place of immense geological and historical significance.

Another stop is the powerful Gullfoss waterfall, where glacial water plunges in two thundering cascades into a rugged canyon below. Feel the spray on your face and take in the scale of this breathtaking natural wonder before heading on to the bubbling geothermal area of Geysir, where steaming vents and erupting hot springs dot the landscape. Keep your camera ready for Strokkur, which reliably shoots boiling water high into the air every few minutes.

In the afternoon, you’ll trade sightseeing for relaxation with a visit to the Secret Lagoon – Iceland’s oldest natural swimming pool. Surrounded by geothermal activity and set in a quiet, atmospheric location, this is the perfect place to unwind in warm, mineral-rich waters while soaking up the wild Icelandic scenery.

By early evening, we’ll arrive in the small town of Hella, our base for the night. After dinner, and if conditions are right, we’ll head out with our guide to search for the northern lights dancing across the dark winter sky – a magical way to end the day beneath the stars.

    • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
    • Accommodation: Hotel (Ensuite)
    • Activities: Golden Circle (Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir), Secret Lagoon

Day 4: South Coast Waterfalls & Glacier Hike

Today is all about some of Iceland’s most iconic landscapes, as we head along the spectacular South Coast.

Our first stop is the stunning Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls – and for good reason. This one is unique because you can actually walk behind the cascade, making it an incredible photo spot (just be prepared to get a little wet!).

Next up is the mighty Skógafoss, one of Iceland’s largest and most powerful waterfalls. With a dramatic 60-metre drop and mist that often creates rainbows on sunny days, it’s an unforgettable sight. You can admire it from below or climb the steps to the top for an epic view over the coastline and river below.

In the afternoon, we’ll gear up for an unforgettable hike on the Solheimajokull Glacier. After being fitted with crampons, helmets, and safety equipment, we’ll set off with experienced local guides onto one of Iceland’s mighty glaciers. You’ll walk across ancient ice, weaving through deep crevasses and shimmering blue formations while learning how glaciers move, change, and shape the landscape around them. It’s an incredible hands-on experience and one of the absolute highlights of any Iceland trip.

We’ll then continue to our next hotel, which will be our base for the next couple of nights.

After dinner, and if conditions are right, we’ll head out with our guide to search for the Northern Lights dancing across the dark winter sky – a magical way to end the day beneath the stars.

    • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
    • Accommodation: Camping (Ensuite Tents & Bedding Provided)
    • Activities: Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Glacier Hike, Northern Lights Hunt

Day 5: Ice Cave Adventure, Glacier Lagoon, Diamond Beach & Stokksnes

This morning delivers one of Iceland’s most unforgettable experiences as we head out for a guided ice cave tour.

After a short ride in a specially adapted glacier vehicle, we’ll step onto the ice and into a dazzling blue world carved by nature.

Our expert guide will lead us through shimmering ice formations, explaining how these ever-changing caves form and why their colours range from brilliant turquoise to deep sapphire. It’s an otherworldly start to the day and a photographer’s dream.

Returning to the coast, you’ll make your way to the famous Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Here, enormous icebergs calved from Breiðamerkurjökull drift silently across a glacial lake, occasionally inhabited by playful seals. Take your time wandering along the shore, watching the ice shift, crack, and slowly make its journey toward the ocean.

Just across the road lies Diamond Beach, where glittering chunks of ice are scattered across black volcanic sand like jewels. The contrast between the sparkling ice and the dark shoreline creates one of Iceland’s most striking and dramatic landscapes.

Later in the day, we’ll continue east to the Stokksnes peninsula. Framed by the jagged peaks of Vestrahorn, this windswept stretch of black sand dunes, lagoons, and grasses feels beautifully wild and cinematic. It’s a fantastic place to stretch your legs, breathe in the crisp coastal air, and capture some of your most atmospheric photos of the trip.

    • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
    • Accommodation: Hotel (Ensuite)
    • Activities: Ice Cave Tour, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Diamond Beach, Stokksnes

Day 6: Fjadrárgljúfur Canyon, Black Sand Beaches & Sea Cliffs

This morning we’ll begin with a visit to Fjadrárgljúfur Canyon, a stunning, winding gorge carved by glacial meltwater over thousands of years. Walking along the rim offers incredible views down into the deep, moss-covered canyon below — a beautifully peaceful and photogenic way to start the day.

From here, we’ll continue to Reynisfjara, Iceland’s famous black sand beach, where the crashing Atlantic waves roll onto jet-black volcanic sand. Towering basalt columns line the cliffs, creating a striking and almost otherworldly backdrop. It’s a beautiful but powerful place, so we’ll keep a safe distance from the surf while taking in the wild atmosphere.

Just offshore, you’ll see the Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising sharply from the ocean. According to Icelandic folklore, these jagged rock pillars are actually trolls who were turned to stone by the sunrise – adding a touch of myth and mystery to the landscape.

Next, we’ll head up to Dyrhólaey, a dramatic promontory that juts out into the sea. From here, you’ll enjoy sweeping views over the black sand beaches, crashing waves, and the vast coastline stretching in both directions. In summer months, this is also a popular spot to spot puffins nesting in the cliffs.

After a full day exploring Iceland’s spectacular South Coast, we’ll head back to Reykjavík to catch your evening flight…

    OR

…you can stay on for one extra evening in Iceland, enjoying a final night in Reykjavík with time for last-minute exploring, souvenir shopping, or a farewell dinner before departing the following day.
